MoA Caches

Last weekend my mom and I went to Scrapfest at the Mall of America. There are two caches inside the mall. One is virtual and the other is a puzzle cache. The puzzle cache leads you to a store number and when you go there you have to ask the person at the counter for the cache. It was so nerve wracking because even though I knew I had to have the right store I was afraid that going in and asking for "the cache" might cause them to call security if I was wrong :) But we were correct so my mom logged her first cache find!

PS - The puzzle cache was my 50th find! What a good challenge for that milestone.

Two attempts and one find

Last Sunday we took Chloe to Johnson Dog Park in Racine. We attempted to find one of the caches that was there at the park but we didn't look that hard cause Chloe was being cute. It was her first time there and she was really scared at first. By the time we got to the cache location we realized it was probably across a stream and Chloe wouldn't navigate that so we each took turns looking and came up empty handed.

Wednesday I was in Madison for one of my many trips out there for work and I found a cache on my lunch break. It was on one of the many bike paths that cover the city. An easy grab hidden in a hole in a brick wall. Took longer to wait for the muggles to leave than it was to grab the cache and sign the log.

We are never going to catch Gyrodon :( They are geocaching gods!

Made a good go at it

Made an outstanding last go at getting ahead of gyrodon today. Unfortunatly he has the week off of work and has pulled up to 51 as of Sunday. No idea on how many he has found today. I did work hard in between appointments today and got a record 11! Two of them were found with Geo-Dog Chloe.

I drove to the Village area in Greendale planning to hit the three down the main drag plus one more. Got skunked on the bell since there were people cleaning up from Village Days all over. Geo-dog and I came back in the afternoon and snagged it while everyone was on a siesta.

My most interesting find of the day was this here rock.

This one was interesting too. It was located inside a fence post.

On my way to 50 finds...

Ok, so maybe I am not that close to 50 finds but I do have 32. Gyrodon logged in five yesterday though. Still down seven. Here are the ones I found so far this weekend.

Started the day Friday at the Wehr nature center. Found all three in the "Wher is it?" series. Then found another close by in the parkway called Log In. Took a break and then hit Owl Hunt 2 near my house. There was so much poison ivy there I am probably going to break out in a rash. Really tempted fate on that one but I found the cache so it was worth it. Friday total - 5

Saturday I made a trip down to Racine to get some fresh veggies at the farmers market and grabbed a few caches along the way. Saturday total - 2 Hey, a girl has to go out and do something other than caching every now and again.

Today I figured I better get moving so I found 4 in the Grant park area. The first two were pretty easy the third was a small challenge and the last one was a really good hide. Not gonna say which was which though :) Sunday total - 4

Hopefully I will get in a few more later today and a bunch tomorrow on my last day off of work.

Some friendly competition never hurt anyone

Gyrodon has 34 finds! Ok, I have off for a few days and I am going to do some mad caching cause I can't let Gyrodon beat us. Some friendly competition never hurt anyone :)

Last night I snagged Podcacher.com and today I made a road trip out to the East Troy Electric RR and cached on the way there.

I had to get a picture of GREENatang someplace historical. Too bad all the caches I found were micros. I guess I'll have to drop off GREEN someplace else.

Evening Edition: Well I hit two more caches tonight so I could dump GREENatang. I found the brand new cache over on 35th and Peutz as well as A Scout is Kind. The Kind micro container had awesome camo. I almost didn't find it but then all of a sudden there it was :) Tomorrow I am either going to hit more local caches or go to Greendale and check out the ones that won't be anywhere near village days.

Muggles, RC Planes, and a Downpour!

Saturday we went to the RC Airshow in Port Washington. I located a few caches along the way. On the way up we figured we would try two. We started by a playground and as we approached the area it was quiet. Of course as the GPS said we were 100 feet away a family approached on bikes and started swinging on the swings. And they were looking our way. We abandoned and thought we could try the one at a near by park and ride. Little did we know it was going to be busy with people meeting up for trips and folks waiting for the bus to State Fair. Skunked again. Actually both of the caches we had a very good idea where they were we just didn't want to go in after them and cause the caches to be muggled after we left. After the air show we did find two more. They were located at the soccar field across the freeway from Nicolet High. Crafty hides and we got to release the jeep travel bug.

This morning we made an attempt to find two caches in the part of the Oak Leaf Trail in Franklin. Each one was 1/2 a mile out from the parking lot. One to the south and one to the north. We headed south first. Fairly easy find in the woods. Had to cross a stream and try not to get stuck in the mud but it was all good. After that find we headed back to the parking lot, crossed the street and headed to the second cache. About half way there it started to drizzle. The sky looked ok so we continued on. 200 feet from the cache we got soaked! We ran into the woods where the GPS said to go but we couldn't find the cache. It was raining hard and the ground got muddy fast so we headed out determined to find it a dryer day. On the way back to the car we ran into a big fat toad in the path. We were soaked the whole car ride home. Good thing we don't live to far away.

(No pictures this weekend cause I forgot to take them with all the bugs trying to eat me.)

Our Jeep Travel Bug

Last night I came home to a suprise. There was a jeep travel bug in my mailbox! Last week I filled out the request form to try and get one of these cute buggers. There is some contest with jeep where the finders are supposed to take pictures of the bug using a different theme each month. If you send in the photo you get entered in a contest to win a real jeep. Anyway I volunteered to realease a bug so they mailed me one! If you want to see where it has been you can click here. Varoom!

Another Caching Day

We thought we would try and get in a few caches before it got hot and before the thunder storms hit. We snagged two.

.

First we found Goldfish Don't Bounce over near Hwy 100 and Pennsilvania. It had a travel bug in it! I knew we had to snag it since its goal was to travel the world and see interesting/historical things. We are going to be going on a few road trips these next two weeks so I am sure one of them will be a great spot for a few pics of GREENatang and also for dropping him off in another cache.

Our second find was a "cache and dash." It was at the College Ave SW Park and Ride Lot. Dave found it right away in a hole in one of the signs at the lot.

We made it home in less than an hour and beat the rain!
